If you want to make some extra income in your leisure time, you may try becoming a Full-Service Shopper with Instacart.

So, what exactly does it mean to become an Instacart Shopper, and how much money do Instacart Shoppers make?

Let’s name it Instacart Shopping Side Hustle.

I’ve seen an increase in the number of Instacart customers at my local grocery shop in the last year or so, and I was thrilled to learn that they’ve begun delivering for Aldi.

I’ve heard how useful Instacart is for busy families who are pleased to remove grocery shopping as a weekly task, but I’ve always wondered… how much do Instacart shoppers make?

While grocery delivery services like instacart and others have revolutionized the way we shop, they may also present an ideal opportunity to make some extra money.

In this post, we’ll go over what it’s like to work with Instacart, how to be hired, and more.

Let’s dive right in

What is Ista?

Instacart is an online service that delivers groceries straight to your door. Customers purchase groceries online, and Instacart shoppers go out and shop for them, then deliver them to the client.

Customers may order groceries online and have them delivered to their homes through Instacart, saving them the time and trouble of going to the grocery shop.

This service is ideal for individuals who are too busy, disabled or lack access to a car.

How Much Do Instacart Shoppers Make from their side hustle?

In the last few years, instacart has implemented many salary cutbacks, which has discouraged many drivers however when compared to other meal delivery apps, Instacart is still a good choice.

DoorDash, for example, does not have a clear tipping system. It is now being sued by a class action for skimming tips from drivers. If a consumer leaves a tip, they may view it in the app and keep the entire amount.

Instacart schedules in blocks of several hours. So yes you do get to set your own hours but they have to be within the preset blocks.

How much money an Insta Shopper earns is determined by the number of tips they receive and the number of orders they complete.

50% of Instacart Shoppers’ revenue comes from client tips – without tips, they earn only $7-$10 every batch.

Just keep in mind… The customer has the ability to modify the tips in the app. (For a period of up to three days following the purchase)

Instacart batches are claimed on an FCFS basis; when they are online, all shoppers may view the available batches; the best ones will be snapped up in the blink of an eye.

Your weekly earnings depend on the number of hours you work per week and how busy your zone is. The upside is that you’re free to set your own hours.

Cities, towns, and individuals all have different wage rates.

What you are paid depends on several factors, like how quickly you work, the number of hours you put in each week and the type of car you drive (for gas expenditure considerations), the amount of tips you receive from customers, and so on.

When it comes to making money with Instacart, I don’t think it’s really worth speculating. People’s incomes range from $10 to hundreds of thousands of dollars every week.

In terms of salary, there is no hourly guarantee anymore (or at least not for me), and it can be variable (i.e., influenced by things outside our control) at times.

Tips and Tricks to increase efficiency and Earnings as an Instacart Shopper

  • In the spring and summer, I include a little note thanking them for their business, reminding them to rate me 5 stars, and I staple it to a pack of flower or veggie seeds (which I get at the dollar store… 4 for one dollar).
  • Another idea is to inquire at stores such as CVS, Costco, and Whole Foods whether they have some samples (vitamins, cookies, lotions, shampoo, etc.) that you can share with your clients. They adore it!
  • If you find any buy one get one free item that they have chosen… grab it and give it to them. They won’t know that from the app, so it’s a pleasant surprise.
  • Learn everything you can about your area and surroundings. Get to know the people that work in the stores. Find out what their names are. Keep to the parking areas of the stores where you intend to shop.
  • Acquaint yourself with your customers’ names. Keep in mind the specifics of any talks you had. When you meet them again, ask them a question such as, “When is Jill flying back home from Holiday?” Alternatively, “How did your meatloaf recipe come out?”

  • The best advice i can share is always to be happy and smile! Ask your customers if they would like you to bring the bags in for them. (Also, for consumers who are disabled, “Can I store these for you?”)
  • It’s always advisable to have additional bags at all times. Carry an extra battery to maintain a fully charged phone, and while driving, don’t forget to charge your phone.
Don’t forget to use the insulated bags as directed. Ensure that you select fresh vegetables and food that is not expired.
